Berlin/Cologne – A YPOG team co-led by Johannes Janning, Stephan Bank and Tim Schlösser advised carsharing provider MILES Mobility on the acquisition of Volkswagen subsidiary UMI Urban Mobility International GmbH, known as WeShare. The all-electric carsharing provider WeShare currently operates in Berlin and Hamburg with around 2,000 cars, which will be migrated into the MILES ecosystem, the existing carpool and the user app.

This acquisition economically and sustainably expands the company's vehicle fleet as well as its customer base. MILES customers will benefit from a larger e-fleet and original WeShare customers will gain access to a significantly increased and diverse vehicle portfolio, six additional German and two Belgian cities, as well as new features such as city-to-city rides and cross-border rides. More than 11,000 vehicles will be available in Germany and Belgium. As part of the new partnership, MILES ordered more than 10,000 electric vehicles from Audi, Seat/Cupra and VW Passenger Cars, which will be delivered starting in 2023.

Both parties are taking an important step toward a reliable, convenient, and sustainable form of mobility as an alternative to private cars. To continue this course, MILES aims to become Europe's leading car-sharing platform.
