Munich, October 17, 2024 - In addition to their offices in Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne, business and tax law firm YPOG is opening a fourth office in Munich, thus expanding its presence in Germany and underlining its commitment to southern Germany. YPOG has managed to win renowned expert Dr. Carolin Raspé and a respected partner of an international law firm as partners for its new Munich office.

Dr. Carolin Raspé joined YPOG on October 1 in the Corporate Crime + Compliance + Investigations department. Previously, she was with international law firm Hengeler Mueller, where she had worked since 2013, most recently as Counsel. Carolin possesses exceptional expertise in advising on matters of preventive compliance – with a particular focus on data protection, supply chains and other ESG issues – as well as years of experience in managing complex cross-border internal investigations, including cooperating with various national and international investigative authorities.

As of January 1, 2025, an experienced partner from a renowned law firm will become a member of YPOG’s Tax practice. His core competencies are tax advice on M&A transactions, venture capital investments, restructurings, reorganizations, financing, cross-border activities as well as general corporate tax law and the implementation of innovative business models. With his expertise, the partner-to-be will further strengthen YPOG’s Tax practice, which is highly regarded in the market. It currently consists of 58 attorneys, tax advisors and tax specialists, among them 8 partners, and is headed by Andreas Kortendick (Cologne office).

The starting team in Munich will be bolstered by additional legal experts, in particular from our Tax practice. These include Senior Associate Maximilian Trappmann, who already joined YPOG from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in 2022; Senior Associate Dr. Isabella Denninger, who joined YPOG as of April 1 and previously worked at McDermott Will & Emery; Michael Wendt, Of Counsel and former presiding judge at Germany’s Federal Fiscal Court; Dr. Julian Solowjeff, who recently made Associated Partner; and Dr. Jacob Schreiber, who joined YPOG at the end of 2023 as Senior Associate, coming from Sidley Austin’s tax practice. The services on offer from the new Munich office will in due course be expanded – beyond Tax and Corporate Crime + Compliance + Investigations – to YPOG’s other core areas. To achieve this, the firm has already succeeded in bringing on board additional professionals.

“Opening our Munich office is an important next step on our strategic growth path, which we have consistently pursued over the past few years,” comments YPOG Co-Managing Partner Dr. Benjamin Ullrich. “In doing so, we respond to our clients’ needs as well as to current market and business developments. With Carolin Raspé and the partner-to-be, we have gained highly renowned experts and quite simply great colleagues who, together with the YPOG team, will kickstart our Munich office and prove an excellent fit for us on a personal level.”

“With regulatory requirements having steadily increased for years, the need for legal advice on issues of preventive compliance and the professional investigation of internal violations continues to grow,” says Carolin Raspé. “This holds particularly true for the markets of the future in which many of YPOG’s clients are active. I very much look forward to supporting and advising our clients – especially in southern Germany – on these challenges together with the future partner as of January and the fantastic YPOG team.”
