YPOG establishes new business unit Corporate Crime, Compliance & Investigations and expands its partner base

Berlin/Hamburg/Cologne, September 4, 2024 - The business and tax law firm YPOG is expanding its offering with a dedicated Corporate Crime, Compliance & Investigations unit and is strengthening its team with renowned partners. Dr. David Rieks and his team joined YPOG on September 1. David Rieks initially worked for the boutique white-collar criminal law firm ROXIN and joins from the renowned international law firm Eversheds Sutherland, where he was partner and head of the Corporate Crime & Investigations department in Germany since 2021. In addition to advising his clients on issues of corporate and fiscal criminal law, his main areas of expertise include advising companies on internal responses to compliance violations and in internal investigations. His team, which has joined YPOG, includes the experienced criminal defense lawyer Ana-Christina Vizcaino Diaz, who previously worked as Counsel at Eversheds Sutherland and is joining YPOG as Associated Partner, as well as Associates Dr. Sina Wegener and Christoph Jenal.

As of October 1, YPOG also welcomes Dr. Carolin Raspé as new partner. Carolin Raspé joins YPOG from the renowned law firm Hengeler Mueller, where she has worked since 2013, since 2022 as Counsel. She possesses exceptional expertise in advising on preventive compliance matters, particularly in data protection, supply chains and other ESG issues as well as years of experience in managing complex, cross-border internal investigations, including cooperating with numerous national and international investigative authorities.

Together with their teams, Carolin Raspé and David Rieks will advise clients both nationally and internationally.

By expanding its advisory services, YPOG is strengthening the connection to its established practice areas of corporate governance, litigation, data protection law, regulatory law, (criminal) tax law and transactions. The firm is thus responding to the increasing needs of its clients and current market developments.

“YPOG continues to grow, and the expansion of the Corporate Crime, Compliance & Investigations practice is the logical next step for us on our growth trajectory. We are delighted to have David Rieks and Carolin Raspé on board, two renowned experts who, together with their team, are an excellent fit for us both professionally and personally. They will expand our compliance practice and add specialized advice and representation in corporate and fiscal tax matters as well as expertise in internal investigations to our practice. The new offering ties in directly with existing areas and complements them perfectly,” comments YPOG Co-Managing Partner Dr. Carola Rathke.

“A key component of our strategy is the organic development of our advisory services in the interests of our clients. Compliance issues can entail significant risks for the business models of companies and entrepreneurs as well as considerable liability risks. Due to the constantly increasing regulatory requirements, our clients' need for advice in the area of preventive compliance as well as in defending themselves against external allegations or in connection with internal investigations continues to grow. With the addition of David Rieks and Carolin Raspé, we are ideally positioned to provide our clients with first-class advice in this area of law. At the same time, we expect considerable synergies with our work in the areas of corporate governance, litigation and tax in particular,” adds YPOG Partner Dr. Matthias Schatz.
