Thomas advises national and international banks, financial service providers and payment service providers on financial market regulation and regulatory matters. Since 2018, he particularly focuses on advising companies with a distributed ledger technology (DLT)-based business model or those that develop and distribute DLT-based products and services.
Education and Career
Thomas worked for more than 10 years as in-house counsel for an internationally operating Dutch finance group. In 2015, he joined Eversheds Sutherland as counsel.
Experience
Prior to joining YPOG, Thomas' recent experience at Eversheds Sutherland includes the following matters:
- Advising numerous international as well as national companies on BaFin proceedings, in particular license applications, ownership control procedures and special audits.
- Negotiating outsourcing agreements for several banks and financial service providers
- Advising various platforms on the issuance of STOs as well as NFTs
- Advising asset management companies on the launch and distribution of investment funds (UCITS and AIF)
- Advising crypto exchanges on the regulatory qualification of crypto tokens
- Advising banks and e-money institutions on the issuance of stable coins
