Axel advises asset managers and investment funds on fund structuring with a particular focus on drafting and negotiating contracts as well as on all operational and tax matters. Axel also provides advice to institutional investors on their investments in closed-end investment funds.
Another focus of his practice are venture capital and M&A transactions. Here, Axel represents founders and start-ups in financing rounds and exit transactions.
Education and Career
Axel performed his civil service in Ecuador and, subsequently completed his law studies at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg and at SciencesPo in Paris. He then worked as a research assistant at Kirkland & Ellis in Munich before completing his legal clerkship at the Berlin Court of Appeal. Axel joined YPOG (formerly SMP) in 2021, first as a research assistant and then as a lawyer.
