Cologne/Berlin/Hamburg – The business law firm YPOG has appointed Dr. Tammo Lüken as Equity Partner and Ann-Kristin Lochmann, Dr. Adrian Haase and Dr. Benedikt Flöter as Associated Partners, effective January 1, 2022.
New Equity Partner
Tammo Lüken (Hamburg) will drive the expansion and further development of the Fund Taxation practice at YPOG. With their now jointly led team of around 20 associates (tax advisors and lawyers) and tax specialists, Cologne-based YPOG partner Andreas Kortendick and Tammo Lüken have established the fund taxation practice at the interface of tax and funds, in particular as a "one-stop-shop" for funds and their management teams, offering their clients high-quality, comprehensive ongoing tax advice on all fund-specific and fund-related tax issues. Tammo Lüken's focus lies on developing the team and training the top tax advisors of tomorrow. "Now, as a partner, I am very excited to be able to contribute to the continuous development of our team and to expand our pioneering role in tax consulting for private equity and venture capital funds. In the future, I would like to pay particular attention to consistently continuing and further developing our strategy of lean and digital work processes”, says Lüken. "With his expertise in ongoing tax advice and tax structuring, as well as his great affinity for digital and efficient solutions, Tammo has been instrumental in shaping the Fund Taxation practice over the past years. I see having him as a partner with us now as a confirmation for our fantastic team", said YPOG partner Andreas Kortendick.
Prior to joining YPOG, Tammo worked at SMP for several years. Before that, he was a tax consultant with a renowned medium-sized multidisciplinary Hamburg-based firm, most recently as a partner. Tammo studied business administration at University of Hamburg and in Kanada, he was a research assistant at the International Tax Institute of University of Hamburg.
The new Associated Partners
Ann-Kristin Lochmann (Hamburg) will play a key role in the further development of YPOG's tax transaction advisory services. In addition to tax structuring and advising on tax clauses in company acquisition agreements, her focus will be on expanding the range of advisory services in the areas of tax due diligence, W&I insurance and post-deal integration. "I am very pleased to be appointed as an Associated Partner and look forward to contributing to the further development of YPOG in the transaction tax area", says Lochmann.
Ann-Kristin Lochmann studied business law as well as tax law in Osnabrück. Prior to joining YPOG, she worked for several years at SMP and as a senior manager in PwC's Deals Tax team.
Adrian Haase (Hamburg) will contribute to the further expansion and strengthening of YPOG's transaction practice. His focus lies on advising on M&A and venture capital transactions. "The innovative, pragmatic and multi-faceted advice to founders, start-ups and VC investors in the context of financing and exit transactions excites me with every new project. I look forward to shaping further developments in the highly dynamic VC environment in the future as an Associated Partner", says Haase.
Adrian Haase studied law at Bucerius Law School (Hamburg), Humboldt University (Berlin) and Stellenbosch University (South Africa). Before joining SMP, Adrian was an Associate at Flick Gocke Schaumburg. Legal 500 lists Adrian as "Rising Star 2020" and "Rising Star 2021" for the venture capital sector in Germany.
Benedikt Flöter (Berlin) is responsible for the development and expansion of YPOG's IP/IT practice. Since Benedikt joined in July 2021, YPOG’s goal has been to expand the firm’s excellent reputation to the new IP/IT practice area as well. Part of the strategic consideration is to intensify the existing contacts in the startup and founder network and to accompany the companies in their growth. "I am very much looking forward to further developing the new business area as an integral part of YPOG. Due to the innovative business models of our clients, questions will continuously arise, especially in IP/IT law, which are not even foreseeable yet. Recognizing these developments at an early stage and offering appropriate legal advice will be an exciting challenge", says Flöter.
Benedikt studied law in Konstanz (Germany), Warwick (UK) and Bonn (Germany) and as part of his dissertation as a Visiting Scholar at the Chicago-Kent College of Law. Before joining YPOG, Benedikt was a senior associate at Taylor Wessing in Hamburg and Berlin.
"This year's partner appointments once again underscore our targeted growth in areas relevant to the tech industry. We are very happy to have these extraordinary colleagues in our team and to continue the positive development of YPOG with them", says YPOG co-managing partner Helder Schnittker.
